Because we have a close and productive relations with the City, people are surprised that the City provides only five percent of our budget! The rest we must raise from people who believe that Laguna needs and deserves a first-rate senior center.

"Seniors helping seniors" describes the independent spirit of Laguna Beach Seniors since we were founded in 1975. To keep going and growing, our board of directors, committees, and programs need the helping hands of dedicated volunteers.

ON FRIDAY, JUNE 8, 2007, LBS BOARD MEMBERS, VOLUNTEERS, AND DONORS, JOINED CITY OFFICIALS AND REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE HEARTS OF MONTAGE AT THE SITE OF THE SUSI Q TO CELEBRATE A MILESTONE. IN 2005, THE HEARTS OF MONTAGE ISSUED AN EXTRAORDINARY $350,000 CHALLENGE GRANT TO THE COMMUNITY TO HELP US BUILD THE SUSI Q SENIOR CENTER. THEY ALSO UNDERWROTE THE EXPENSES OF OUR CAPITAL CAMPAIGN SO THAT EVERY PENNY WE RAISED WOULD GO TO THE NEW BUILDING. THE HEARTS OF MONTAGE CHALLENGE GRANT ENERGIZED US, HELPED US RAISE FUNDS AND FRIENDS, AND GAVE US THE MOMENTUM THAT WILL GET US ALL THE WAY HOME. WE COULD NOT HAVE BEEN HAPPIER TO ANNOUNCE THAT WE'D MET OUR MATCH, AND TO THANK THOSE WHO MADE IT POSSIBLE: A COMMUNITY OF DONORS AND THE HEARTS OF MONTAGE.
