Notice: Annual Membership Meeting is Thursday, February 23, 2012.
Under our bylaws, the Board of Directors may fill vacancies at any time. As a membership organization, however, directors must be elected by our members at an annual meeting. Members have the right to make nominations to the Board. Nominees must be members of Laguna Beach Seniors who have agreed in writing to the requirements for directors. (A copy of our board commitment is at the Susi Q.) We encourage those interested in board service to first get involved in one of our committees, to better understand the agency and the needs of its members. Under our system of staggered three-year terms, the Board will be nominating Jim McBride, Pam Horowitz, and Linda Butterwick for approval by the membership.
Mission
Enhance the lives of seniors through programs and services that promote independence, wellness and community.
Values
Help one another; define ourselves and defy stereotypes; be collaborative and respectful; give back to our community; have the time of our lives.
Vision
Make The Susi Q an essential resource for “boomers and beyond” and Laguna Beach a better place to live it up for the rest of our lives.
Executive Director
Nadia Babayi became Executive Director on January 10, 2011. In welcoming her, board president Chris Quilter also praised the leadership of past executive directors Bea Field and Carole Zavala. “Nadia joins us at an exciting time. We are in great shape, but there is so much more she will help us accomplish in the years ahead."

A Legacy of Leadership
At our June, 2006 Membership Meeting, Mayor Elizabeth Pearson was surrounded by six board presidents. Virginia Schott (far left) led the agency in its early years. Louise Buckley (right) was a tireless advocate for a senior center. Marthann Newton (partially hidden) launched Project Senior Center, and Skipper Lynn (left) carried on this effort. Pauline Walpin (far right) worked with the City to plan a joint senior / community center. Lee Andersen led the negotiations for a joint development agreement with the City.
